Users of the iPad and iPhone are being tracked — by their mobile devices. Researchers have uncovered a file inside Apple’s operating software that contains detailed records of a user’s location, according to the Wall Street Journal and other media reports.

Skype has updated its Android app to include VoIP calling over 3G in the U.S. Previously, U.S. users could only place calls when connected to a Wi-Fi network. International users have been able to make calls over a cellular connection since the app was originally launched last year.

Global spending on business intelligence, analytics and performance management applications jumped 13.4 percent in 2010 to $10.5 billion, according to figures released by analyst firm Gartner.

The new comScore figures show that when all connected mobile devices are accounted for – phones, tablets, iPod Touches – Apple's iOS platform "outreaches" Android in the U.S. by 59 percent. In other words, Apple's 16.2 percent share of the mobile device market is that much better than Android's 10.2 percent.
